6 Weeks in Canada!

Freitag, 29.04.2016

I'm in Canada for already 6 weeks! Time runs so fast! I really have to tell the world that Canada is so great! I already visited so many places, met so many people and saw so many crazy things :) I'm very happy to be here 🙂

Today I left Nakusp after more than 4 weeks. That was really crazy because I already felt like home there. I had a really great time there and will definitely go back there some day ;)

Beach time

Now I'm in Calgary. The bus drive from Revelstoke to Calgary took 6 hours. It was beautiful because most of the time we drove through the Rockies. Although it was raining, it was great to see all the mountains, rivers and green trees. And then suddenly there were no more mountains but only a wide country. There was nothing but the road. Amazing! When I arrived in Calgary I first went to the Hostel. It's very small but clean and good. In the evening I went for a short walk through downtown, ate a soup at Tim Hortons (you can find this shop every 100 meters...) and enjoyed being here.
The next two days I will discover Calgary and then another Greyhound Bus will take me to Edmonton!

The last few days were nearly the same. I was helping on the farm, riding, doing yoga and so on. A few days ago I went to a golf club with Christoph. It was my first time golfing and it was really fun! At the beginning I was pretty bad in hitting the ball but it got better with every hit! We only played 9 holes but it took us about 3 hours 😀
Golfing!

Last weekend I drove to Nelson with Christiane. Nelson is a cute little city, 2 hours away from where we live here. It is known for all the Hippies there and it was really nice. But the best thing was to drive there! Along mountains and lakes there is a small road guiding you through the area.

For the moment, I don't have to tell more stories, sorry 😀

Yoga, riding, cycling... :)

A few days ago I took part in a Yoga Class here in Town. To get there, I used the Family’s Pick up Truck. It was the first time I drove such an big car but it was fun! 😀
The Yoga Class was also fun. There were only 6 women, aged approximately 50, and then me. It was a little bit Yoga Nitra, which means that you just lay on the ground and listen to a story. It is supposed to get your body and mind connected. The Yoga that I used to practise is very different from this kind of Yoga, so it was a good new experience 🙂
As everywhere in Canada, the Yoga women were so nice and kind, they integrated me in their group from the first moment I arrived there. Canadians are great!

Today I went horse back riding with Christiane again. I’m so in Love with Deka, “my” Icelandic Horse here. He is so great, kind and sweet. Going on Toelt with him feels like flying. I would love to take him with me on my whole journey and then back to Germany ;)

In spite of the riding today, this day was really relaxing. I only had to help preparing breakfast for the guests and then feeding the animals. In the afternoon my hosts got visitors, so I had the chance to practise my English in a bigger conversation. Everybody says that my English is really good 🙂

Today I have my day off. So I took the bicycle and went to town. The way was great, always downhill and it took me about 15 minutes. I don't want to go this way back uphill 😀
Now I will explore the town here a little bit. The weather is great, so it's perfect for cycling around... As you see, I'm doing a lot of physical activity 😀
Oh and tonight I dreamed in English for the first time!!! Yippieh 😀

Nakusp :)

Skiing in Canada!

Freitag, 08.04.2016

At Friday afternoon Christoph and I took off to Golden. That’s a nice city, approximately 3 hours from Nakusp. Jan lives there at a very crazy place. There is the city, then there is about 20 minutes nothing. And then, in the middle of nowhere up on a small mountain in a forest, there is Jans Cabin. There are a few other cabins and campers and I met Germans there! It is really weird to live there because there is no hot water, no power, no internet, no kitchen, no bathroom. Just a bed and a fire place. So Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is quite always the same: Sausages ;) Not that bad!
On Friday evening everybody was at the fire place, it’s a really nice community up there! We trunk beer, played games and just talked. And it was so weird to meet Germans at this place! They were from Traunstein. Funny!

Fire place Me in the middle of nowhere :D

After a not so great night we went to Hot Springs on Saturday with a few people from the place. Hot Springs are natural “Heiße Quellen”, where you can go bathing like in a swimming pool. So you go there with your winter jacket and your boots and then sitting there only with Bikini in the water ;) Crazy! This trip took us nearly the whole day so we didn’t do anything others on that day.

On Sunday, Christoph and I went skiing at the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort! Yes, I was skiing in Canada! That was awesome! The last time I was skiing is about 6 or 7 years ago. I really hoped that I had not forgotten everything. Jans Girlfriend Valerie borrowed me her ski equipment which fits perfect! It was so great to be on skis again and it works better than I expected it! Okay I have to admit  that Christoph has to wait a lot for me because compared with him I was really slow. But hey – it was the first time again! And we had really much fun!
Because it is the end of the season, there was a “Slush Cup” at the bottom of the ski mountain. There was a huge pool with really cold water. The competitors tried to ski or snowboard over the pool. 90% of them failed and get wet. 😀 Christoph also took part and he was the first who managed it to get over the whole pool! That was awesome!

Slush Cup

I had a really great weekend 🙂 Although I can’t image to live full-time at their place “back to the roots” ;) Therefore I love it too much to take a hot shower 😀

Cowgirl!

A Greyhound Bus took me in 9 hours from Vancouver to Revelstoke. The bus seemed to be very old, but it was very comfortable and the time runs fast. Arrived in Revelstoke I should be picked up by my host. Unfortunately there was nobody at the bus stop. Peter told me when nobody is there I can go to Tim Hortons and wait there till somebody picks me up. Okay, so I went to Tim Hortons and after an hour surfing in the Wifi Jan (Peters son) came to pick me up. The route to Nakusp was so great! There is only one street which guides you through the mountains, along rivers and lakes. Then we had to take a ferry – much fun! After 1,5 or 2 hours we arrived at their home. It is awesome! They have a nice little B&B there and some horses, goats, chicken and a dog J
Just arrived there I already feel like home!
The only thing I didn't like first was that there is no Wifi, so I can't really stay in contact with my friends. But after a few days I got used to it 😀

At the day I arrived, Christiane cooked a great meal for us. Peter and Christiane are German, but we try to speak mostly in English – that’s why I’m here! Their children also only speak English so it’s quite good for me. They are all so nice 🙂
At my first full day I helped Christiane in the morning with feeding the animals. Then we cleaned up the B&B, doing some garden work and finally went horseback riding! It was so great to be again on an Icelandic horse! I’m already so in love with Deka – that’s his name. Later I brushed the little pony and at the evening we ate an big turkey ;)

For the moment it is so great to have this landlife again. I’m curios how long I will like it ;)
For the moment – it’s perfect!
